Visual arts installation by Demetrie Veltsista titled:

Reversal of accumulations

Sifnos, summer of 2019.

The creator’s message in relation to the project.

One asks, why create this accumulation in Greece,

basking in the sunshine of the Aegean?

Because of implicit certainty.

My country’s long-standing history is indisputable.

I have contemplated about whether our history has followed us,

or whether it is at odds with us.

Queries, confirmations, necessities.

One life, love.

Development…

The island of Sifnos was chosen as the initial rounds, the first point of the installation.

This structure was inspired to be presented In Apollonia, where the god of light and sun once walked.

It is based on my country’s majestic past and assembled in a space in our time.

The dominant object, the chair, a sturdy foundation, in a ray of bright colours in perpetual motion, illuminating the whole structure.

Indeed, it is an accumulation of the spiritual life of Greece, beginning with momentous names and votive offerings passed down throughout our modern course in history.

My life’s votive offerings constitute the unbreakable link of this installation, considering the years past and reflecting the truth.

Today’s modern truth; admissible or not, is this.

Is our spirituality our pinnacle displayed, or, is it the base of our co-existence?

Mine?  Yours?  Each one of us decides.

I, for one, have revealed myself.
